It really feels good to walk without pain after 16 years.
BillLongview, WashingtonThe Genesis has made my life a lot more mobile for me.
ChuckLongview, WashingtonThis (running) is something I've never been able to do with any other foot.
JerryLongview, WashingtonTo Whom It May Concern, I had contacted MICA Corp. in the past letting you guys and ladies over there know how absolutely impressed with the functionality of the Genesis II and Genesis II Plus Foot Systems have been to me personally. As stated in the past I was involved in a near fatal vehicle accident. After multiple surgeries and a fruitless attempt to save the leg an amputation was rendered in March of this year (2004) I was fitted with a prosthetic with a Genesis II Foot System in June of this year (2004). I was immediately up on my feet and walking “UNASSISTED” two days after my first fit. Next to running in three weeks. The ability to walk/run/step/leap and walk on rough terrain is amazing to me. All of my expectations are far beyond anything I would have imagined a prosthetic to be. Granted I owe a lot to my prosthetist Mike Amrich and Leo Frappier of NOPCO in Boston, MA who provided the perfect socket and matched me with the perfect foot system… you take for granted the simplest things until they're gone. My life is more active now than it ever was before my accident. In November of this year (2004) I lost significant volume to the residual limb and had to be refitted with a new leg. While trying different foot systems I tried out a Luxon Journey Foot, I could not maneuver that I had received with the GII. Because of my activity level I was fitted with the GII+. All I have to say is “WOW,” 1000% perfection. …with a GII+ Foot Ankle System, a shock absorbing pylon, and a “perfectly” fit socket, I can honestly say that I can't even tell the prosthetic leg is there and I can continue to go about my active life.
JosephLutz, FloridaThe mobility is unreal. It's the best thing that's ever happened to me.
Jon, High School Football CoachKelso, WashingtonWith my first step it felt like my own foot.
Jack, Commercial FishermanLongview, WashingtonThis is the best foot on the market, I wish I had found a prosthetist to put it on me 20 years earlier.
FrankCastle Rock, WashingtonTo Whom It May Concern,My prosthetist, Wayne Koniuk, suggested that I write you about an interesting and unusual experience I had with my prosthesis. First of all, I have been using a Genesis Foot for seven years. It was originally prescribed by Dr. Skip Meier, a physiatrist in the Denver area, and put on a socket by Annaliese Furlong, who I understand is related to the Genesis founder. With occasional replacement of bushing, this foot has performed exceptionally well for that whole time. I tried several other feet, but just didn't like them as much. To me, the Genesis Foot has a very natural feel that other feet don't have. It probably sounds corny, but it's a foot that I trust. My parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in East Hampton, New York this summer. We went to the beach one day, and I decided to go body surfing with my prosthesis on. The waves didn't seem too big, and I felt that an external neoprene sleeve would be sufficient to secure the leg. Wrong! A big wave came in, I rode it, and got tossed around at the end. I felt the leg come off, but there was nothing I could do about it. I hopped out of the water and immediately reported the loss to the lifeguards, who formed a line and walked in the area where I thought I lost my leg. They never found it. A policeman showed up to take a missing property report, and I resigned myself to having lost the leg. Imagine my surprise when, six weeks later, I got a call from the Montauk Police Department. Someone found my leg washed up on the beach – sixteen miles from where I had lost it! The leg did a little traveling without me… I like to think a shark or two tried to bite it and learned a lesson! Anyway, the Good Samaritan who found my leg reported it to the police, who found my report and called me. It was pretty funny when they asked me to describe it… I asked if they were kidding. Really, how many reports of missing legs do they get? They got it to a UPS Store, which packaged it up and sent it back to me – a little worse for the wear. I miss that foot!
Very Truly Yours,HarryThis is the most natural foot I have been on. I am no longer concerned about uneven terrain. It is the most comfortable foot that I have ever experienced. The multiaxial function makes this foot a pleasure.
BanghiPortland, OregonWith this foot, nothing can stop me now.

Dear Genesis,This is a Thank You Letter that has to take a story form to illustrate how much I needed and what a difference your foot made. In 1997 I was in a motorcycle accident where I was struck head on by a truck, in all the resulting stuff I lost a leg, the left one about a foot (no pun intended) below the knee. I guess I should go a little further back, in 1995 I was the number 7th ranked mountain biker in the State of California, for a little while I was the 20th fastest bicyclist in the world. I love the outdoors and I love danger. Nothing makes life sweeter than banging on deaths door and it not being opened. So I had this accident and I thought it was over, and for a while it was. The prosthesis that was constructed was paid for by the State of Washington (Thank you). Even though it was better than nothing, it wasn't great. The ankle didn't bend so out door stuff was hard, I didn't let that slow me down because I didn't know what was out there, but I knew I couldn't afford it. I thought that was how was going to be. While I was recovering in the hospital, a friend gave me a copy of Bizarre Magazine, which had an article about amputee stuntmen and what a hidden market it was and how much money could be made, if they want to break a limb or blow off a foot, they can with amputees. I was hooked, danger and money, oh boy! Finally a job made in heaven. To be a stunt man, going to school is not mandatory, but its not a bad idea, so as soon as I was able, I enrolled. It was tough, one of the toughest things I have ever done. The first week was spent fighting, giving and receiving punches, sticks, knives and also kicks. Everything was very hard, as my ankle wouldn't bend… it was really difficult to move in a way that would “sell.” There were a few things that I just couldn't do, the high falls I couldn't get naturally enough and the kids were doing back flips from fifty feet up. How would I ever compete with that? So I gave up on them. The fight instructor recommended a Brazilian Martial Art called Caperoia, impossible to do gracefully with an ankle that doesn't bend. I graduated school, which was in Seattle, and decided to drop in on a place that has helped me a lot, just to say goodbye as I was leaving Seattle… perhaps for good. Prosthetic Research Study, directed by Dr. Smith, the same doctor that performed my amputation. There was a technician there, Dave, who I was complaining to about my limited mobility and the challenges I faced at Stunt School on account of my prosthetic ankle inability to bend. I really didn't expect anything to be done, mainly as I had planned on leaving town so soon. Dave told me to call him in the morning and he will see what strings he can pull in the mean time. I called him in the morning and Dave told me to be at Prosthetic Research Study in two hours cause it will all be there waiting. I'm was totally amazed. MICA Corporation heard about the problem I was having and without meetings and memo's, you all actually did something… not to mention you did it fast and what a difference your foot made. After four years I finally have an ankle that will bend. I used to dread stairs, both up and down, because the ankle wouldn't bend and I had to pivot off my toe. Rough ground, the beach… I walked them but it was so hard as the ankle would not bend, any kind of rough ground got old fast. Now with a Genesis II it is no problem. The Genesis is still rigid enough that I can continue to ride my bicycle… I was worried that it was to flexible to shift gears on my motorcycle. I put a lot of miles on both and don't have any problem. I am now in California with my Genesis II working to become a stuntman, what a difference… we'll let you know how it goes!
Thank you,John
